Treat them like you always did, laugh with them and include them in on activities and events. If they are up to coming, they will be there but if they don’t feel well that day just understand and don’t make a big deal about it. The day prior to the procedure, the patient will have to take a laxative to make certain that the bowel area is clean. The patient will also have to fast for a minimum of 6 hours before the test. This procedure is done on an outpatient basis and really does not take very long at all.

You should expect to be sedated while the procedure is taking place. You will be asked to lie on your side and a colon scope will be used. A colon scope is a very narrow and thin telescope.
